ALROSA still eyes diamond output in 2018 at 36.6 mln carats
ST. PETERSBURG, Dec 4 (PRIME) -- Russian diamond mining giant ALROSA still expects its diamond output to reach 36.6 million carats in 2018, and diamond sales to stand at about 37 million carats this year, CEO Sergei Ivanov told reporters on Tuesday.
“So far, we see the level of 37 million carats as the level of sales (in 2018). Production will reach 36.6 million carats. I looked at (the production figures for) the 11 months earlier today, and we are going in line with the plan,” he said.
In November, Ivanov said that ALROSA expects its diamond production to rise to 38 million carats in 2019, and diamond sales to outperform production next year.
